Momoyoga alternative: what to compare before you switch

The short answer

Momoyoga is simple, cheap and well liked, but its Free plan takes 5% of every online sale, waitlists start on Standard and recurring memberships and branding start on Plus. If you need monthly billing, private sessions or your own brand without paying for the top tiers, compare an alternative that takes no cut of sales.

The best Momoyoga alternative is the one that fixes the specific thing you have outgrown. For most studios that is one of four: the 5% fee on the Free plan, paying for Plus just to bill memberships monthly, the lack of private sessions, or members seeing Momoyoga’s brand instead of yours. Check those four before you look at anything else.

What does Momoyoga do well?

Momoyoga is a good product, and it is fair to say so before comparing. It was built in the Netherlands in 2014 for yoga teachers, and it shows: setting up a schedule takes minutes, there are no limits on members, classes or teachers on any plan, and the free plan lets a new teacher start without paying anything.

It also has strengths that many alternatives lack:

  • Video on demand built in, so you can sell recorded classes next to live ones.
  • A member app that members across many studios already have on their phones.
  • Friendly support that owners mention often in reviews. It holds 4.6 out of 5 from 130 reviews on Capterra (checked October 2026).
  • Clear public pricing with a 14-day trial and no card needed.

If you teach mostly group yoga, sell passes rather than monthly memberships, and do not mind the Momoyoga name on your booking pages, it may well be enough.

Why do studios look for a Momoyoga alternative?

The reasons we hear most come straight from how the plans are cut. According to Momoyoga’s pricing page (checked October 2026):

What you need Momoyoga plan that includes it Price
Online payments with no platform fee Standard EUR 29 a month billed yearly (about EUR 39 monthly)
Waitlists, booking and cancellation windows Standard EUR 29 a month billed yearly
Recurring memberships (automatic monthly billing) Plus EUR 59 a month billed yearly (about EUR 79 monthly)
Your logo and colour, promo codes, custom e-mails Plus EUR 59 a month billed yearly
A member app with your brand Custom EUR 179 a month billed yearly (about EUR 229 monthly)

Prices exclude VAT for EU customers. Outside Europe Momoyoga bills in local currency or US dollars, so check the amount shown to you.

Three gaps come up again and again:

  1. The 5% fee on Free. It is easy to ignore when you sell little online, and expensive once you grow.
  2. Monthly memberships sit on Plus. Many studios run on monthly unlimited plans. Paying EUR 59 to 79 a month just to bill them automatically is the most common trigger for a switch.
  3. No private sessions. Pilates studios and yoga teachers who sell one-to-one sessions need a second tool for those.

How much does a 5% platform fee really cost?

A percentage fee grows with your studio, which is exactly when you least want it. Here is the maths for a studio on Momoyoga Free, before Stripe’s own card fee:

Online sales a month 5% platform fee a month Over a year
CA$1,000 CA$50 CA$600
CA$3,000 CA$150 CA$1,800
CA$6,000 CA$300 CA$3,600

At about CA$1,300 a month in online sales, the fee on Free already costs more than Momoyoga Standard. That is not a trick on Momoyoga’s part: the fee is how the free plan pays for itself, and it is clearly stated. It simply means “free” stops being the cheapest option sooner than most teachers expect.

The rule of thumb works for any platform: multiply your monthly online sales by the platform’s percentage, then compare that number with the next plan’s flat price. If the percentage is bigger, you are on the wrong plan or the wrong platform. We go deeper on this in studio software with no transaction fees.

What should a Momoyoga alternative include?

Use this checklist when you run a trial of any platform, ours included:

  • No percentage of your sales on the plan you will actually use, only the payment processor’s fee.
  • Monthly memberships billed automatically by card, with failed payment handling, on an affordable plan.
  • Waitlists that promote members automatically when a spot opens.
  • Private sessions, if you sell them, with a way to approve requests before they are confirmed.
  • Your brand (logo, colours, name) on the booking pages and receipts members see.
  • Booking inside your own website, not only a link that sends members away.
  • Member self-service: cancel within your rules, see remaining credits, download their data.
  • A clean way to import your member list from a spreadsheet.
  • Clear limits: know exactly what happens when you pass a member or staff cap.

Be honest about what you will lose, too. If you sell a big on-demand video library, check that the new platform supports it before you move.

How does elastudio compare with Momoyoga?

Here is a side-by-side for the things above. Momoyoga facts are from its pricing page and help centre, checked October 2026. elastudio prices are for studios outside Brazil.

Momoyoga elastudio
Free plan Yes, 5% fee on online sales Yes, no fee on sales (20 active members a month)
Entry paid plan EUR 29 a month yearly (about EUR 39 monthly) CA$29 a month (Starter)
Waitlist with automatic promotion From Standard From Starter
Recurring memberships From Plus 1 on Free, unlimited from Starter
Private sessions with approval Not offered Yes, from Starter
Your brand on booking pages Logo and one colour, from Plus Every plan
Member limits None on any plan 20 on Free, 200 on Starter, unlimited from Growth
Video on demand Yes Not offered
Languages for members 11 languages English and Brazilian Portuguese

So the honest summary: Momoyoga wins on video and on having no member caps; elastudio wins on fees, monthly billing on cheaper plans, private sessions and branding. elastudio connects your own Stripe account, so card payments go straight to you and you pay only Stripe’s fee (in Canada, 2.9% + CA$0.30 per domestic card, per Stripe’s pricing page, checked October 2026).

How do you switch from Momoyoga without losing members?

A calm switch takes about two weeks. The order matters more than the speed.

  1. Pick a start date at the beginning of a month, so most passes and memberships renew on the new platform.
  2. Export your members from Momoyoga as a spreadsheet, including e-mail, name and any notes.
  3. Rebuild your schedule and products on the new platform before you invite anyone. Keep the same pass names and prices so nothing feels new to members.
  4. Import members and add any remaining credits by hand for people with active passes.
  5. Tell members one week ahead by e-mail: what changes (the booking link), what does not (their credits, prices, classes), and who to contact.
  6. Swap the booking link on your website and social profiles on the start date.
  7. Run both for one cycle. Let existing Momoyoga memberships finish their current month before you cancel them, so nobody is charged twice.

Is elastudio the right Momoyoga alternative for you?

If you need monthly memberships, private sessions or your own brand, and you do not want a share of your sales to leave with every booking, elastudio was built for that. It takes no cut of sales on any plan, including Free, and members book in English or Brazilian Portuguese inside your own website. If video on demand is central to your business, Momoyoga is still the better fit today.
